SmartJet™

Metal cutting applications typically use a coolant (emulsion or oil) to cool the cutting point and keep the chips away. Better cooling of the cutting-edge leads to superior surface quality and longer cutting tool life.

Removing chips effectively also improves the quality of the machining operation and greatly contributes to maintaining sharpness of the cutting tool.

When the emulsion pump in the machine provides high pressure and high flow rates, we will get optimal results, the fluid velocity is high, which leads to efficient dispersion of the chips and constant heat removal from the cutting tool tip.

Large and powerful pumps remain rare, due to their high price. Generally, the pumps are small and provide insufficient pressure and flow rate for a quality metal cutting operation.

SmartJet™ provides superior cutting results using relatively old machines with smaller, less expensive coolant pumps.

SmartJet™ is based on the optimal combination between emulsion flow and air pressure.

Air, being a compressed gas, can reach the speed of sound, over 1,200 kilometers per hour.

SmartJet™ allows the air to move at high speeds in close proximity to the coolant, dramatically increasing the linear velocity of the liquid particles. Relatively high density and high velocity lead to high momentum (impact) of these particles when they meet the tip of the cutting tool.

The air and liquid meet outside the SmartJet™ at the optimal position and angle, allowing each of them to maintain its properties, producing a tube of aerosols which deliver a unique combination of the properties of both air and coolant for cutting edge machining process.
