In new metal cutting machines, robotic arms may be used for replacing the raw materials.
Before the replacement process, the pneumatic clamps are opened by a command coming from the machine’s controller, then the finished part can be pulled out and raw material can be placed so a new cutting process may begin.
Metal chips remain in the work area and prevent straight placement of the raw material. Therefore, it is necessary to pre-clean the work area prior to placing the raw material. Furthermore, a general cleaning of the machine is required between different tasks or at the end of a work day.
Smartec’s nozzles “JR” are used for cleaning the work area and for cleaning the interior of the metal cutting machine. These nozzles may be connected statically or dynamically: a static connection (mainly of JR03) is used by connecting the emulsion, air or oil pressure to the back of the device using an integral thread (G1/8 or G1/4). The Machine Cleaner is then directed to the required position and when the machine gives the “cleaning” command, it sprays directly and cleans the area.
In the dynamic option, one may connect the units to a tool holder, place in the machine magazine, and use the main spindle to rotate the Machine Cleaner while applying TCP (through coolant pressure).
A high rotation speed is not necessary, usually 3,000 rpm is sufficient. The units are not balanced so a high rotation speed may damage the main spindle bearings. The recommendation is to start with a low rotation speed, and slowly increase the speed until you get satisfactory results. When using JR06 or JR12, the customer can decide how many nozzles will be open (anywhere from 1 to 9 nozzles). The stronger the TCP and coolant flow, the more nozzles may be opened for a more efficient cleaning process.
Each of the three devices (JR03, JR06, JR12) can be purchased with metric or imperial core per customer’s requirement.
